Hello everyone

my wifes checkmate with factory HID/projectors stopped working. what needs to be replaced?

i noticed yesterday that the light was a bright pink/purple. Later on, it started flickering; now its out.

If the lights were pink-purple, chances are good the bulbs finally wore out.

Yep, I'd say your bulbs are done. What's your MINI info? year, etc? I can get you the right bulbs for replacement.

Should have a DIY here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._and_Bulbs.htm

thank you all, and pelican. i have read many of your articles while modding our cars.

i had swapped over a bulb from my 05 to my wifes 06 mcs checkmate, and it still doesnt work.

i put my bulb back in my car, and it works, so what do we think it could be??

i did take the bad bulb from my wifes, put it in mine, and sure enough it is burnt. in addition to a bulb, i think something else is bad.

i did notice that the small wires that connect to the pack on the back of the bulb were exposed. i put some electrical tape on them now, put possibly maybe a fuse is also out?

what do you think

so heres some trouble shooting. I swapped wifes ballast amd igniter to my mini, and everything works on mine.

i moved my working ballast, igniter, and bulb over to hers, and nothing works. what would the next thing be to check?

thanks in advance!

If your bulbs work with her ballasts, then your ballasts are toast. If it were me, I’d get new ballasts and bulbs and be done.

i appreciate it. basically, i took my good/working bulb and ballast out of my mini, put it in hers, and it doesn't work. I then took her ballast and tested it on my vehicle, and it works, so it looks like all the ballasts work on my vehicle.

for all intents and purposes, her car has a working bulb and ballast, and it still wont turn on (driver side). what would be next to check, considering the fact that the bulb and ballast do work.

thank you all for your consideration

I had to go back and re-read the thread, since I'm getting confused

Her car sounds like it has a wiring issue somewhere. Need a good multimeter to start checking the harness connections.

This is a good resource for HID related issues, too:

I will try that tonight....is there any chance that there is a headlight fuse for JUST the driver side, or no?

I'll update the post with the results later on =)
