Wastegate movement and code 2885

I have been trying to solve my code 2885 problems. Today I removed the exhaust pipe to observe the wastegate movement. There seems to be a lot of play in the shaft. If you have any experience with this please watch the video and let me know what you think. Thanks

yup..that's some play, it should be open and stiff. check if the nuts are loose and they need some tightening.

The nuts are tight. The shaft going through the exhaust housing has more play than it should. Also where the wastegate lever attaches to the actuator rod there is too much play.

I am going to install a new turbo cartridge plus order a new exhaust housing and see what happens.

Oh that thing is junk for sure. Seen many of them not that bad throwing codes so you for sure need a turbo.

I'm planning on doing this repair in the near future (new exhaust housing), and I'm wondering if there is a way to ensure that the actuator rod is adjusted correctly. In other words, how do you know if the shaft going through the exhaust housing is attached to the actuator rod at the correct spot so the wastegate opens and closes correctly?

Thanks.

Thanks for the response and link - although I can't seem to get the link to work.

Also, thanks for the offer on the exhaust housing....I decided to just go ahead and buy a whole new turbo. At 82,000 miles I'm not sure how much life mine has left in it and I'm going to use the opportunity to upgrade to an S42 from JMTurbo Coopers...spent some time on the phone with Arric and received some great advice.
