Passenger window appears to not auto lower consistently
It appears that my passenger window appears to not auto lower consistently as there's a sharp crack noise when the passenger closes the door.
I thought at first my kid was slamming the door but I don't think it's him.
What controls the auto lower function just before and after closing the passenger door?

If the window isn't auto dipping chances are that the window motor is failing, but it could also be a door lock actuator fault.
If it's a door lock actuator fault I would assume you should also have a door ajar fault or the cabin lights wouldn't come on when the door is opened.
I would lean more towards a failing window motor though.

Some more Googling and I found this in a BMW forum:
- Sit in the car, and put the key in position 1, so you have power to the windows.
- Push and hold down the window switch, and keep it held down for 5 seconds after the window is all the way down. This re-sets the memory, telling the motor, in effect, "Remember where we are now? Good."
- Roll window back up, and release switch.

The instructions from BMW forum could work -I think it's the same for the MINI. Your owner's manual will have (?) similar too. Did it work ?
What I don't like the "crack" part of your original post. It does sound like something is broken or out of place.
So consider nkfry's post.

The "cracking noise" is the passenger glass hitting the body frame, I believe, because it's not auto lowering. Since it's intermittent, I'm not sure that it's fixed.
Thanks for the input.

Crack:: Oh I see what you mean now. It is not moving out of the way as you open the door. About a half inch or so. There's an adjust procedure I saw for my F56 that you could try. Here's the link for it, try to get the pages for your model:

I found a passenger door from a part out, without a crease in it and swapped it out hoping that it might fix my window auto-lowering issue.
Now the passenger door lock doesn't work with the key remote or the dash switch.
Suggestions?
