N16 into N12 car

Just picked up a shell in need of a motor

N16's are significantly cheaper than n12's are they a straight bolt in?

for those curious, water pump failed, no warning lights they drove till smoke. The Smoke was from the valve cover melting into the head. The center two pistons melted on the intake side. No galling on cams so it never oil starved afaik, there is melted piston on the cylinder wall.

nobody done this? belts same, intake/exhaust same, head same, waterpump/thermostat is the same, I've not found a sensor that was not the same.

block/oilpump/oilfilter housing are different, that's all I've found so far, who said these n16's are more reliable ?!?!?

I only did an N12 transmission into N16 car and so far so good. Im also swapping N18 into N14 car and it is in progress. You just have to give it a try i guess. the plugs might be different in terms of wiring harness, just double check that. for example, my N14 plugs are more square shape while N18 are more round.

n12 and n16 show the same part numbers for the sensors, so plugs are the same

What about the oil pump. I know on the N18, they have a "smart" pump what has a plug.
I guess the N12 comes with regular pump where the N16 has a plug. right?
