still no boost...
still no boost...
Over the weekend I replaced my shut off valve. After the replacement, and making sure all the tubes are on tight. I took it out for a spin, and I'm still not seeing any boost on my gauge. At this point I'm at a lost, and no idea what could be causing this. Can anyone out there help me?
Assume you mean by-pass valve. Did you zip tie the valve to test that it was working correctly? If the water pump is spinning then you should have boost. There is a recent thread here where they found that the factory pulley had come loose and was free wheeling on the shaft.
I never did the zip tie test before changing it out. I swapped in the DT bpv, so it should be working. I can feel the supercharger kicking in, so I don't think its a loose pulley. Are there any other factors I'm missing? Could my boost gauge be broken? All it reads is vacuum and maybe 1 to 2 lbs of boost.
Just because the part comes out of the box does not mean the thing works. I have learned over the years to always double check the easiest issue.
Why did you think the BPV was bad, the gauge?

If it is as you stated, "I can feel the supercharger kicking in," and you're NOT observing a noticable decrease in performance, then I'd guess yes, the gauge might be faulty, or disconnected at some point along the line...
Well when I say I feel the supercharger kicking in, I mean it doesn't feel like just a 4 cylinder car.
