Engine fan is on while engine is off

This is my first Forced Induction car and my first Mini.
Whenever I go out for spirited drives, shut the car off, the fan in the engine compartment turns on.
Is this normal? How long will the fan be on? Will it drain my battery?

Thanks!

I am going to move this to the Gen1 S Problems/Issues folder. Have you read the sticky in that folder about the Fan and AC issues? There is allot on the fan and relays, you may pick something up.

I think it stays on until a certain temp is reached, but you need to be mindful that it stops or it might eun down the battery.

Yep. I just thought it was an integrated feature like what most Turbo cars have.

Thanks!
At this point, I just restart the engine and let it run for a few minutes or so.
