R50 cannot use AUX and charge phone at the same time

Hello, I'm new to this forum and someone from reddit pointed me here.

So my mini didn't come installed with an AUX input so I added one. But I've got some problems:

1. It seems I can't use aux mode and charge my phone at the same time. The aux mode just disappears and you have to restart the car to use aux again(without charging your phone)

2. Then I tried one of those bluetooth car kits that uses aux and powers via usb. Aux mode doesn't show up ever with that kit plugged in.

Well now that I think about it, it's pretty logical that option 2 doesn't work if option 1 didn't either.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem or another way to charge and use aux? Or other bluetooth kits that do work?

I think you need this piece. It is a ground loop noise isolator. Here is a link from Amazon

Amazon Amazon

I had a similar problem with a XM radio it would play for a few seconds then disappear. It would work fine with my iphone this solved the problem.

correct

GEN1 MINI has a ground loop issue when you have the AUX port .....

a ground loop noise isolator will fix the problem

if you search back you'd find MANY threads on the issue ....

I wonder if this is the issue I have with my 2005 R53?

I have the H/K unit and have installed the factory AUX jack. Lately, after a few minutes, the stereo turns off while also turning off the drivers side seat heater. The head unit lights stay on when the headlights are on, it just turns the stereo off and it will not turn on again for a long time, usually after you turn the car off and let it sit for hours.
