Mini Connected/Android/USB

Howdy all. Been a while. Probably discussed... Did some random Android searches..

Mini Connected App working on Android for anyone else?

Just acquired my 3rd Mini. (R58 JCW,) but unable to get the USB to detect my Galaxy S7.

Kicked on the Developer Mode, Set USB to Media, etc, but car still does not show the device when plugged in.

Anything I am missing here?

I just tried it. In the Play Store, don't select from the auto-completion suggestion, which seems to point to a country-specific release. Instead, type "mini connected" and hit enter, and select from the search results.

1.4 star app rating! That takes real talent to achieve.

MINI Connected only supports iOS in your car.

MINI Connected did not support Android until 3rd gen models.

I'd installed the Mini Connect on my S7. Given MINI said it works with Android, I found its completely useless. The only thing I say is useful is Calendar. At least it display my schedule.

Thanks all. Sad they have not better resolved this, considering Android now owns nearly 80% of the market.

Seriously, you aren't missing anything. Yes, MINI Connected works with iPhone for 2nd gen MINI but it is useless and its rating on the Apple app store is just as low as the Android version. When an app has an overall rating of 1-2 stars, it isn't working out for most people.

BMW/MINI Connected was a failed experiment. Proper phone integration won't come until Apple Carplay and Android Auto on future models.

I'm expecting a 2018 Mini Convertible with Mini Connected. Have they still not gotten it to work properly with Android?

I had a 2018 F56 MCS as a loaner for a week and did try it. Not the app but did hook up via USB using a LG V20. From the head unit I had to select and use USB as Bluetooth refused to work with the wheel control when trying to play music. USB allowed me to access my audio files on my phone and play them thru the radio. I did have to set my phone to media sync mode in order to get it to work.
