HPFP and recalls DONE!

After 4 months of owning it, I finally got around to getting my boys '07 MCS to the dealership (2 hrs away) to get the Auxilary Electric Water Pump recall completed. I've been working through the stored codes one by one. The latest were the misfires and accompanying hard cold starts of the HPFP. This was my first time dealing with a BMW/dealership and.................guess I just got used to dealing with mechanics or SA's that know something about vehicles. I really am surprised the technician knew what to look for from the "customer states" that were typed up and supplied to them. Anyway....the cooper went in with a CEL and misfire codes, after they cleared the codes the CEL wouldn't return and they wouldn't consent to replace the HPFP under warranty. It was FINALLY replaced after I insisted they check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Frustrating but done! Total completed: HPFP replace under warranty, Auxilary electric water pump replaced under recall, turbo oil supply line heat shield installed under recall, new key fob (OUCH) paid for that one. Now on to the passenger seat occupancy sensor!!!!

Why do stealerships behave like this?

Won't MINIUSA pay them for all work done?

Yes BMW pays them but at a reduced shop rate for all warranty work. BMW is also very specific in what it requires from the techs and SA's prior to granting warranty. But they did go the extra step and check the rail pressure. Cudo's to you for getting them to look deeper. I agree on getting a new key. That stings a tad but if only the electronic part needs replacing you can save a bit by just ordering the fob portion.

Quick update: went to pick the MCS up on a Saturday, nearly 2 hrs away and........it had been parked under a tree ( dropped off a clean car and pick up a tree sap covered messed on car and yes I'm **** on this). Ticked me off enough that I violated one of my rules, CHECK EVERYTHING UNDER THE BONNET BEFORE ONE LEAVES THE DEALERSHIP. The next day I pop it open to find the air duct from the radiator support to the air box MISSING. A call to the SA the next Monday, "The technical doesn't have any extra part in or around his toolbox. Drop by with the car and we'll see if we can try to figure out what happened". Yeah.......NO! They sent my " complaint to the SManager. No call back that afternoon, no answer to his phone the next day and no call back till the next afternoon. "we'll clean the car (already done). We'll have the part when you drop by". I'm 2 hrs away " Oh.....". Welllllllllll, we'll see how it goes my next day off. Car runs/starts much better now though.
