Doofus here broke the corner off the...

...black plastic top air filter cover. For some reason I thought I could get the screw removed from the cover and forced it so hard I broke the upper right hand corner of the top air filter cover.

I imagine to pay for my sins this black cover will be a very expensive piece of plastic to replace! Would have posted a picture but have lost my digital camera and have yet to replace it!

BTW....my Mini is a 2005 Convertible with a manual tranny if that helps!

Any ideas?

P.S.- First time to try and replace air filter which is why I was futzing with the air filter housing at all! Arrgggghhhh!

Did some checking online and found ECS Tuning has replacement intake boxes. So guess I'll be getting one of those. Lesson learned about over-muscling plastic parts!

Is this the part you're talking about:

If so ECS has it for $29: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/13721491742/ES35383/

Doesn't look like mine. Mine is not a JCW or S model, but a base. I think the top cover is different.

Its here, you have to buy the whole box. You will need the manual version one, it looks like a triangular top. 13727529258

I would fill it with JB Weld and tap threads into the JBWeld.

Yea, thinking about that, but guess what also snaps over time , the loop connection / tab on the lid side for the clam shell when you close it and then it falls into the engine bay or off the car when you drive down the road. Then nothing to JB to. So you need a new box. The lid to the JCW Sound kits are NLA which have an extra tube so I have to take and OEM box and mod it to fit the tube sometime here in the future.
