Body Plastic Renewal

Hello all!

I've been working on fixing up my '03 MCS this summer, and one little project I started last weekend was renewing the fender trim with plastidip.

I was able to remove the most trim pieces without breaking clips, but I accidentally broke a bunch of clips on the second side skirt and one of the a-panel trim pieces I removed.

Are there any good records of how many, and what kind of clips the fender trim all around the car uses?
what aboutt the wheel arch plastics? A bunch of those philips-head plastic two-piece fasteners stripped out because of wear from the Arizona heat.

Can you even remove and respray the plastics on the back bumper or should i just mask the back bumper off?

Thanks in advance!

You should also try RealOEM.com. You can type in part of your VIN (last 7) and diagrams for your specific vehicle will come up. Choose the category and search the numbered lists for whatever part you need - clips and bolts included. Then you can search the web for that particular part number, or check with the dealer. I've found that buying assorted clips from the dealer is pretty competitive, price-wise.

So there isn't a "plastic hardware restoration" package somewhere?

I swear, 7/10 of the philips-style fasteners are rotted to uselessness, and the fender clips are so brittle that I broke one placing it back into the fender. It's going to be quite an annoying task tracking down how many of them rounded out/broke in the removal process.

Ugh, I really need to get more organized.

No. And the universal Ones never seem to fit. Dealer clips are pretty cheap. Sometimes they will give you a little better price if you buy them by a full bag of ten.
