Im gonna go backwards on this issue of mine. The diagnosis shows that the "Solenoid valve (SOLV)" is responsible for the issue im facing! Wont tell you just yet what that issue is, so i dont get you biased to tell me what you think. So the real question is... what symptoms should i have if the Solenoid valve (SOLV) is faulty?

Oil pressure solenoid valve?

Mine would illuminate the low oil light on long sweeping curves, off ramps, etc.
It will "leak", however it pushes oil up the wiring harness into the module if not taken care of, there is a service bulletin and just a harness fix iirc

If it's a VANOS solenoid problem the car will run rough, have misfires across all 4 cylinders, give you cam position codes, VANOS control codes, misfire codes, etc.

I get the following error msgs... P000A-Powertrain and P0420-Powertrain, might they have to do with it?

You need to get a better scan tool hooked up, neither of those correlate to a solenoid issue. P0420 is a catalytic converter code and the other code is rather useless.

The BMW scan diagnostic tool pointed at the solenoid, my Torque smartphone app pointed to those two errors.
