Intake Manifold to Cylinder Head

I purchased a new cylinder head and am having a hard time getting the stud bolts into the head far enough so that the intake manifold clears the supercharger output air duct. Has anyone ran into this installing a new cylinder head? Has anyone used a regular M8 bolt rather than a studded bolt?

This is an image of the bolt?

Thanks for your help. 2004 Cooper S

You don't need to pull the intake all the way off. Watch mod minis video and he demonstrates how to do it. Just google mod mini head gasket.

The intake does come off with the sc on though. It's pretty hard to wiggle it out but it does come off. Before I put mine back on I used a file on the intake where it hits the sc horn. There's plenty of aluminum in the area where I filed. It now goes on and comes off super easy.

Just did the file mod myself yesterday to the intake to clear the SC horn.
Removed just a smidge where it interferes. Much better now!

I will confess I got impatient with the file and give it a little touch on the belt sander, mostly because I have one all ready to go..,
