Oil pressure light short caused by collapsed motor mount?

Hi. I reported a problem a couple of years ago I've been living with. My oil pressure light would blink on intermittently. I determined it was a wiring problem by disconnecting the sending unit. The light would still blink on and off while driving, but would not turn on/ignition on, turn off/engine start, as it did when connected.

I also determined recently that my right side hydraulic engine mount was collapsed. I replaced that, and now it seems that the oil pressure light is not blinking on as frequently as before.

Anyone aware of a location where the wiring harness might have been getting pinched due to the collapsed motor mount? Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Thanks in advance.

That wiring harness runs down from the thermostat area, across the starter and to the oil pressure sender, I doubt that a failed engine mount had anything to do with it, but if you do have a chaffed wire then you could have moved it enough during the mount install.

You'll need to remove the heat shielding from around the header and starter to fully inspect that section of harness. Has the car had a clutch done recently? We've seen multiple cars with that section of harness pinched between the engine and trans causing weird occurrences.

The clutch is original and motor has never been out. (Only 41k miles). I was in a minor fender-bender on the front left a few years ago. I checked the connector in that area and all seems well.

The light would definitely blink on and off on throttle transitions, as if the motor rocking back and forth would bring the problem on.

Where do you think the chafing might be?

I had similar issue and ended up replacing the one wire between the sensor and the round connector to the engine harness with a new seperate one

That's a good suggestion and I may consider doing that.

I've noticed since the motor mount was changed that the light isn't blinking on as often. I still think the harness is getting pinched somewhere, probably in the "octopus" under the air box.

Its must be rubbing , those wires can run tight. I would cut out the bad section and re wire if you can. You would have to trace it through the harness.

Thank you for the response.
If I knew where the bad section was, I would do exactly that. I have removed the air box and attempted to locate where the chafe has occurred. I'm hoping someone has actually seen this and can offer some guidance as to where this might be occurring.
