R56 left sitting for ~24 months

I unexpectedly had to leave my '09 Cooper S parked for roughly two years. Long story why, and don't really want to get into it, but the time has come to start it up again and get back on the road.

My question is what do I need to do/look out for before starting it up? The battery's flat, but I'm guessing there's more to be done than just putting a charge in it and hitting the go button. Any tips on what to tell the shop before I bring it in would be much appreciated!

Fluids, especially gas, then oil and coolant. Check tires for deterioration.

Bump the starter some before turning the ignition on. New battery for sure. It'll run on the old gas, just dilute it soon with fresh.

Check to see if any animals crawled under the
hood or made a nest in the air filter box.
And check tires for flat spots - unless the car was
up on jack stands. Battery is given.

All very good tips. Drain & replace filter and oil definitely before the first crank.
