New Battery installed, now clock does not display

I replaced my dead battery on my 06 MCS and everything is good except I cannot get the clock to work correctly.

I push and hold the button for 5 seconds but it will not do anything.

Any ideas ??

Thanks.

Try switching a new fuse in there, if that doesn't work unplug your positive cable then reattach if that doesn't work unplug your negative reattach.

Take your cables off the battery and let the car sit for about 30 minutes. Before hooking it back up, rotate the key to the on and off position at least three times. Then hook it back up, turn the ignition on (not running), wait 30 seconds, and back off again. Wait a few more minutes and turn the car on. You should be able to change/adjust everything again. Sometimes, at least in my experience, some cars' ECUs can get a little out of whack when the battery is removed and you just need to re-sync everything again. I've probably changed 700-1000 batteries and have seen this happen a hand-full of times. I don't know exactly why it works, but back when I worked for O'Reillys that's what the DM taught us and hasn't failed me yet!

Thanks much for all the helpful replies ! I will try them out !

I did not even know that my $$$ Optima battery had died until I opened
the door and had no interior lights.

Its funny as the radio did not lose any of its settings; just weird . . . . . . . .

I'm just glad I don't have to take a trip to the Mini dealer to have the battery registered.

I guess 2006 was the cut off date before they thought that one up.

OK XsV, I followed your instructions and the clock did not respond.

Maybe it may take some driving to get it to reset ?

Maybe, but I've never heard of that being a solution. Tell me a little more about exactly what the clock is doing and what happened originally.

What's it displaying? I'd think possibly a fuse as well. Some info on what fuse HERE.

I hope is not the slow or stuck clock problem, i had that and they had to replace the speedo, there is an internal battery I believe on the board that recharges.

Ok after a long stay away from home, and I forgot to put on my slow battery charger, I came home to a dead battery.

Took out the old one and installed a new Group 47 battery.

The clock function looks like: ....../......

I will try replacing the fuse but it did look good.

Or maybe by driving it will fix itself ?

As promised, I changed the fuse and now the clock is working like normal.

But, I put back in the old fuse and guess what, the clock is still working.

Maybe sitting in the garage for two days and doing what VsV said to do cured the problem. Who knows - - - its a Mini.

I'm just glad its working again; Thanks to all for all the help with my time problem.
