OK. I have relentlessly searched and read all of the Harman Kardon failure threads and fixes, but none are helping with my current issue.

I lost all sound last week. Head unit, Bluetooth, etc... All still working, just with no sound.

A quick look led me to believe it was the amp (I have a 2012 MCS R56 LCI). I tested the harness for the amp to make sure it was getting power, and it was. So I was able to find a used amp for $200 (a fraction of the $1k for a new one).

I swapped them out, and I still have no sound EXCEPT... Only when I 1st Start the car (as in turn it over). The sound will only last a few seconds, and then shuts off again.

I checked the fuses, and all are fine...

If anyone can assist in shedding some light on what the issue is, I would greatly appreciate it.

You have a issue in the radio control function or a short in the power tun on line going to the amp.

You might have to take it to the MINI dealership to have them read the control unit for the stereo system, there are allot of possible issues. If an amp fails , it will not turn back on. Whats the part number on the amp , 11 number digits, just to make sure.

That's unfortunately what I was thinking. That's the correct amp that you displayed above.

Just for the sake of it, I am going to swap it out with my friends amp (which I know is working) just to see what happens as it will only take me 10min to do.

Alas, I will likely end up having to go to the dealer as I don't have any clue how to diagnose the issue further without going the route you mentioned.
