The red oil light comes on briefly on my 2011 MCS. This has happened a total of 6 times in the 5 years that I've owned it and each incident were months apart. In all 6 times, I was driving on the freeway at cruising speed, when the light only came on for about a second and goes away, never to be seen again for months.

I change oil every 7,500 miles, and I usually drain about 4 quarts every time, which suggests that the engine isn't burning excessive amounts of oil and that low oil level isn't causing low oil pressure. I've told my SA about this and he claims to have changed a solenoid that was causing the problem. This was back in 2012.

Has anyone else experienced the same symptom?

 

Assuming the oil pressure is indeed not dropping, I'd suspect the oil pressure sending unit..

 

Intermittent ground fault in the sender wiring. I've got the same issue.
