Passenger Engine Mount Orientation

Does anyone know if the the orientation of the OEM passenger engine mount matters?

The R53 mount has a strap on it, and it seems like the direction you put the mount in would matter. The R50 does not have the strap. Does the strap limit the movement of the mount for the R53?

I do see an "FR" on the rubber of the mount itself, but its next too "NR" which I think is just referring to the rubber compound.

I checked the official MINI instructions, and there is no mention of orientation. Anyone know for sure?

Some strap info HERE. There is no specific orientation for the install in our tech article either.

Ah - you found the thread I had searched for - thanks!

So as far as anyone can tell, its apparently there only if the mount fails. Interesting they wouldn't include it on the base Cooper mount. I guess the lower power output doesn't warrant it.

Yes, i posted in that thread before, its a fail strap. More movement in the S is my thoughts also with the Cooper S.
