Constant oil Burn. White Smoke! Decat

2007 Mini Cooper S (R56) N14
6-speed Transmission
120,000 Miles
Loosing 1 qt every 1000 Miles
Only Mods on the car- Forge Atmospheric Plate, and a De-Catted DownPipe.

I am having a problem with constant oil burn Through the exhaust. Enough that when rev-matching i get white smoke chasing me to the stop. When I take off I see a white haze behind me and i constantly smell Oil burning.

No Question that I am burning oil, Here is what I have checked/replaced.

This wasn't that bad before I replaced the Valve cover. It started getting worse since then (+/- 500 miles ago). Turbo Feed line is leaking a little bit of oil externally so that is where some of the smell is coming from.

I have checked all the lines coming from the valve cover and they are all going where they should and are in good to excellent shape because I have replaced most of them due to them breaking while working on the car in the last 3 yrs of ownership.

I know that if I had a Catalytic Converter I would be diminishing the Life of it right now because of the Oil and that is the only reason I haven't put it back on.

I have been left to think that the turbo seals have failed and that's why I am burning oil like this. Anyone Else have any ideas that can help me steer in the right direction to getting this fixed.

Thanks

You have enough miles to be a lot of things. Have you done a compression test? Rings or valve seals come to mind..

No I have not done a compression test yet. It was the next step but I wanted to post to see what other opinions were.

I suspect the valve guides are worn at that mileage. My 2010 JCW had about the same mileage and was burning a quart of oil per tank of gas due to warn valve guides. The head needs to come off and you will spend around $3000 if it needs nothing else.

Check the oil seals on the turbo, these engines will consume oil and some take more or less then that amount. First thing is to narrow down its not a oil leak on the engine or the turbo oil lines leaking which you would see in addition, but you have white smoke so majority is consumed. My bet is the guilds or the turbo seals. Pull the inter-cooler off and see how much oil is coated , it will have light oil , but if its really bad you will know.

Not really sure that you are providing any value by dropping into every thread and posting this response.

Sorry you have had a bad experience with the brand. Maybe it is time to find a nice appliance to drive.

Check your engine oil level. If its too full (doesn't take much in a mini) the engine will burn off excess oil, mainly noticeable during idle and take off. Mine does it every time I get the oil changed (they always seem to over fill it) and mine is decat as well.
