I've got a 2003 MCS and whenever I start the car the oil light comes on and stays on until I rev the car up to about 2-3k revs. Once the light goes off, it stays off even if I return right back to idle. This has been happening since I purchased the car a few days ago at 75k miles. There's a sticker on my windshield that says it's not due for another oil change until 80k. What's going on?

 

I had the same problem for a bit, then did an oil change, haven't seen it since. I'd say just do the oil change, not that expensive, did you have the oil changed before purchase?

 

I didn't, but that was because the sticker said I had another 5k to go before that was necessary. I'll do one next time it's in the shop.

 

Hopefully it fixes it for you, I kind of liked having it in an odd way though. Something about being able to fix a car by revving the engine

 

Might be a failing Oil Pressure Sensor... or maybe it needs to be cleaned. Fresh oil (Oil Change) might take care of it, as the new oil may clean it off a bit.
