Even though the battery is new, did you charge it?

Update...

I got a new start/stop module. Still, no response from the car. I tried to charge the new battery by jumping. I tried everything I could do. No response.

I'm starting to think it's your key fob battery.

I was told a very simple story years ago by an old mechanic...."available voltage, boy!" he said. I would be looking at my battery cables, both positive and negative. I would be looking at my ground and positive connections everywhere. I am sure this will be a "simple" solution, once found. The problem is finding it.....

Yes, I will be looking electrical system. By the way, I got the electricity to all of interior lights. So, I do not worry about the battery, cables from the battery to the system. Yes, I hope it would be a simple solution. Now, I am looking into relays. It seems at some point it opens the circuit not providing the electricity to the system.

This thread is pretty much same symptom I have.

I checked every relays in engine compartment. They were all good.
Tomorrow, I will be digging into deeper inside of dashboard.
I am looking for an electrical wiring diagram. Anybody with it?
Especially, I am looking ground wire from start/switch module to the ground. Anybody got idea where the ground point for start/switch module?

You keep saying your lights work and all the other electrical stuff works, but when you go to hit the starter, the voltage drops. Have you put a charger on the battery? New or not, have you?

I don't recall if the start stop button is plug and play or is it programmed.

OP never mentioned if any recent work done, could be related

I read thru but I think I missed if auto or manual. If auto car may not think it's in park so no lights ( I think )

I did DIY that swapped channels for speaker, front and rear. And, recently, my radio got dead.

My car has manual transmission.

So everything works electrically except starting the engine (does the start button turn aux power on and off)? Have you checked the clutch interlock switch?

Huh? 12.6V is a perfectly good value.

Electrically, not perfect. Even I put the key in slot, the system does not go into ON. If system is ON, there should be lighting up on instrument. But, no. It seems the circuit got shorted somewhere or the computer shuts down the system, which I hope not.

Yesterday. 12.6V is the value only from the my car battery. And, I tried to jump it again yesterday. I checked the voltage of over 13V while jumping the car. Need more?

My voltage control module always reads between 14.2 and 14.4 volts. You can't jumpstart a car when your key fob turns your instrument cluster blank with electrical problems. Resting battery voltage means absolutely nothing until its under load which you have not been able to do, how old is this battery and what type of battery is it?

You've got much bigger electrical problems than a key fob issue! I think it's time to have some Mini specialists look at your electrical system.

Second Set key fob won't work

Can anyone help...I bought 2012 used Mini Clubman, came with two sets of key fobs, one worked the other did not. I'm afraid to death of having only one set of keys if I lose or lock them in the car (which I did already with my dog inside) I really need to find out the reason it won't work, took it to a mechanic and he tried to see if there was a battery which there wasn't, I really don't want to pay for a new key , since I have it already, just doesn't perform. Any ideas? Thanks

They have an internal battery , and then the CA cars ( Comfort access ) have two battery , one internal ( can be done but you have to take it apart ) and one replaceable cap for the CA function battery.

Linked Here DIY :

For CA cars :

Door key

Can't help with the dead fob issue but there is a door key stowed away in the fob. There's a button on the back of the fob that releases the key.

I am curious as well. We just got a 2008 Mini and one fob starts the car, the other one does not. It does unlock and lock the doors, but is not recognized in the slot to start.

Can you tell me what you mean when you say that your key FOB will unlock and lock the doors, but is not recognized in the slot to start. The last part -- not recognized in the slot to start. What does that mean? No lights? No anything?

That is correct. As I said, it will unlock or lock the doors but it will not start the car. It is not recognized, as if you had no fob on you to use. It is at the dealer now, they are ordering a new fob. They said these never do this (well of course they don't). So a new one is ordered and will program. The question was asked what if we were stranded and did not have the other fob, then we are stranded with no way to start the car and a call to Mini would be necessary to tow to the dealership and a new fob ordered.

Did you ever get a result from this?

Last post was that you ordered a new key fob. Did this get you going again?
I have the same problem right now so keen to understand the solution!
