No gears after transmission swap

2002 Mini Cooper was 5 speed, swapped in a 6 speed following he guidance at http://personal.stevens.edu/~jdunn/FixingtheWeakLink.pdf

Problem is now only have 1st gear. I know it could be a huge number of things but if you guys can help get me looking in the right direction that would be tons of help.

you swapped over the linkage and everything from a 6 speed right? Can you verify that moving the shifter into the second, third, etc gear inside the car actually translated to the linkages moving at the transmission? Sounds like either you have your linkages screwed up, or the transmission you installed was no good. Was the transmission known by you to be fully functional?

I don't know if they are the same linkage. But I'd think they are different. You probably should look into that. Didn't your tranny swap tutorial mention it?

The shift cables are different so you need the 6spd S cables.

What shift base do you have, black or nylon white/yellow color ? And what year was the donor car it came from? Or last 7 or the VIN ?
