Alarm won't turn off

I have a 2002 R53 and my alarm keeps going off. Pushing the buttons on the remote does nothing. The car battery is now drained but the alarm still goes off when we tried unlocking the door with the key. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Electrical issues are pretty common when the battery begins to fail. How old is the battery in the car now?

Sounds like the battery or an aftermarket alarm with a short ? Does you alarm use the factory key fob ?

I have heard the tilt sensor in the horn itself can go bad, if you have the factory alarm. ?

The tilt siren is located in the engine bay near the ABS pump ( below the hood vent ) on the passenger side.

The battery(Optima Redtop) is less than a year old. However, it has died a few times. I'm not home for most of the year and my dad sometimes forgets to start the car for me. I just claimed warranty on the battery, so hopefully that'll fix the problem.

With new vehicles containing electronic components, there will always be a continuous draw on the battery. Combine this with extended vehicle storage and or short trips, the battery may never receive a full charge. To prevent the possibility of a dead battery, keep it fully charged with a battery maintainer whenever the vehicle in not in use. This will also dramatically decrease the life of your battery so the maintainer may be a good investment since you said the car sits for most of the time during the year. Let us know if that's your issue.

Swapped out the battery for a new one about two weeks ago and everything is fine now. I didn't think it would actually work since the battery was only 7 months old. I'm just glad it's all fixed now.

Glad to hear the issue is resolved. Definitely think about a battery maintainer if the vehicle is going to be sitting for extended periods of time. It'll definitely help save some money from having to keep replacing the battery.
