I hear a rattling noise coming from the motor, mostly at idle. I'm 90% sure it's not the cam twnsioner. I heard it could be the Smog pump? I'm getting the power steering pump warranty service done this week.

 

Anyone?

 

There haven't been smog pumps on cars since the 70's AFAIK.

 

Pretty much the only emission pump that is on the car is the evap one, which is in the back and that you can sometime hear when it's pressurizing the tank to check for leaks.

If there's a rattle up front, it can be a couple of things. The timing chain tensionner and water pump/pto gears are the common ones.
