Rear sagging 3/4" vs the front...

Hey All,

First great forum here. I have learned quite a bit. The issue I am currently having is a 3/4" lower rear wheel gap vs the front. So it's sagging. My R53 has 70k on it with the original springs and struts. Will replacing the rear springs and struts raise the rear back to level? I am the 2nd owner, so I am unsure if the car new was level or had a rear droop.

Thanks,

Jim

Unless there's something really broken, the rear struts won't have an effect on the height--the springs determine the height. You could quickly and cheaply find out if your springs are whipped by putting out the call for two rear springs on NAM. Somebody is bound to have them from swapping out suspensions. Hell, we probably have a set banging around the shop. I'd send them to you for $25 plush shipping, but buyer beware, there were actually six different spring sets for the R50/53 generation of cars, depending on the option set of your car. The springs are color coded, but I never bothered to figure out what the color markings meant. The difference between them is very small.

Could be the the top rubber mount (#9) is smashed from old age and needs to be replaced.

#1 on #9 for the sag and the clunk noise. Its made of a dense foam and after many miles can get smashed down some. Most of the time its the clunk noise over bumps as it moves around.

Thanks for the info. Definitely no clunk sound. Quick question, is the car supposed to be level front to back?

Do you have a set of four springs? My MCS is a 2005 S without Sport and manual transmission. I would be interested in a low mileage set.
