Oil leaking 2 days after change

So i went to my local shop to get my oil changed and everything was fine for the rest of the day. The next morning i came out to about 3 quarts of oil on the ground. I thought it was just the filter housing leaking but it does not seem to be coming from there. Does anyone know what the issue could be? thanks in advance

I would check the drain plug first, then pull the filter housing make sure the o ring is intact and reseat the housing.

I might bet $$ it is the filter cover o-ring....or the drain plug...
Fill it up...turn it on and look for drips...
Yeah..clean oil is hard to see...

3ltrs would be a lot for housing cap leak since it's higher than pan. Maybe they only finger tightened the drain plug.

a full cap leaking out would be a BIG mess

feel around the cap and inspect the area below (flashlight) ... when you spill oil from the cap on a change it can make a BIG mess in the area (including flooding the control arm bushing and the oil speeds deterioration .. but I digress)

it is possible all you are seeing is the residue of a poorly done change . . . .

bad o-ring blows oil under pressure first ... I left an oil ring around the neighborhood from a test drive after a change where I'd piched the ring!

Pull the filter and check the oring, with that much oil that is the most likely cause.

I have experienced the damaged oil filter o ring problem. It sure dumps a lot of oil when that has been messed up during installation.

If the OP is taking his car to an independent for an oil change he is not likely able to pull the oil cannister cap to check for an o-ring.

Glad you found the problem.
Too bad you had to take it to someone to do the work (or make more work for you).
