I have a 2002 Mini and I am trying to replace the front motor mount/damper (right side). The new one mount has a threaded tube on the bottom of the mount to which a 10/110mm Torx head bolt screws into from the bottom of the frame. The mount I removed has a threaded stud coming out of the bottom of the mount and it screws into threads in the top of the frame. I cannot locate a new mount like this. I am wondering if one is available, dealer says no! I can drill the threads out of the top of the frame enlarging the hole to accommodate the threated tube as the hole through the frame exists for the Torx bolt. I am not sure about drilling out the top of the frame. Anyone help would be appreciated.

 

Check the drivers side door jamb...
Get the production date...
Then IMO call waymotorworks down in Atlanta ga....he might be able to get the early mount for you or know of a workaround....yes...some early mini's were different...that is WHY THE PRODUCTION DATE matters...also post a picture of the mount...will help.

 

They no longer make those threaded bottom engine mounts. The "fix" is real easy. Just buy the updated mount then drill out the threads in the frame rail. Use the updated bolt from the bottom and it threads into the updated mount. Your car will now accept the late 02 to mid 04 mount.
