So my service engine light came on this morning and I looked up how to reset my oil life. Thought that this would turn it off but it did not work..any other thoughts on why it could be on and if there is a code I could get from it to see what it may be? Thanks!

 

Try scanning it with an code reader or try an autozone, they can scan it for you.

It's hard to say what it could be without more info.

 

I have seen this a few times... car a day out of service and the wonderful "Service Engine Soon" light illuminates, in my case it was a O2 code that got thrown because the car was running clean again after the service. Code was read and deleted everything was fine. On a separate occasion the service tech failed to reset it after doing some work on the Airflow Sensor.

But Yes, best to have the code read and then decide the next best thing...e.g., delete it, additional service, ignore it, etc.
