R53 Cracked Fuel Filter Housing

I starting smelling gas fumes in my garage in the morning, so I pulled my rear seat to check out the fuel system. When I opened the filter side I noticed a collection of old gas on top of the filter housing. I think I see a small crack in the very top that is letting gas seep out. Anyone seen this before? 2005 R53 with 47k.

I saw something similar on an old Saab 9000 once, but never on a Mini.

It looks like the crack is right where the fuel runs through the housing. Take a close look at it while the engine is running (the fuel pump will be running and the system will be pressurized).
You'll probably have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly.

Wish I had kept my old one around for you. I replaced this entire unit two years ago due to pressure loss in the fuel lines when the car was off causing extended crank times when starting.

Surprising to see the part crack like that, especially on a 2005 with such low mileage.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up finding a used housing and just switched the top, no more leaking!
