help! tensioner bolt snapped off

Long story short, my 2004 s belt tensioner went out on me. No big deal I'll replace it. Well the long bolt on the top, the 16mm bolt (the one at the end of the arch towards the front of the mini) snapped off. Getting the broken bolt out is going to be bad enough but now I can't find a replacement bolt. Any advice or suggestions on where to find one (dealership says I have to buy a 10 pack of them at $14 a piece)

thanks

That's ridiculous on the 10 bolts minimum...call Way Motorworks he stocks all kinds of bolts, odds and ends etc...

According to RealOEM the bolt has been discontinued/superceded, our local dealer can get them under the same 10 bolt minimum, but if you try your local hardware store the bolt is just an M10x70 (not sure on thread pitch).

Depending on how the bolt broke off you should be able to grab the stud with pliers and turn it out, you may have to use some PB Blaster and a conservative amount of heat to get it to move at first.

Good luck with the repair.

You are welcome,

Those lower steering shafts are on BO for right now. When MINI releases them again. We should have them soon hold tight. The ETA are sometimes all over the place due to vehicles down ( waiting ) at dealers getting the first batch. You can spray the shafts with lubricant routinely at the U joints to buy some time. We are working to get these as fast as we can.

Thanks , and have a great trip in the UK.
