I had one in my Dodge truck, but the truck was an automatic. It was just a generic brand that I tied into my alarm. Could be used on a manual trans but would have to disable the neutral start safety switch. Also, not sure it would work on a MINI w/o having the key chip near the ignition switch?

In addition to being manual, the mini uses the chip in the key to engage fuel to the engine. I "think" it would difficult to install a remote start without needing to bypass this (like leaving the key chip in the area of the steering column) which would compromise the security.

Every remote starts directions tell you that you cannot install it on a manual.
Some states have laws that you cant do it (ie. NY)
No shop with a good rep would do it (forget circuit city, best buy...)

Its dangerous to do. If you start it when its in geat the car could jerk forward or back and hurt someone or cause an accident.

let alone the extra pollution....when the car idles from a cold start it takes longer for the catalytic converter to reach operating temps than it would if you got in turned it over and drove..a cold converter won't do jack in preventing pollution from emminating form yer tailpipe...hasn't convenience proven, to be a factor in the undermining of our society ? we're all gettin' fat with our remotes!.....er sorry kinda went off there....besides there's been earlier threads on the subject of remote start....search it up!
