Top Hat Issue / Squeaky Noise

So there is a squeak every time I turn my wheel. It comes exclusively from the right wheel. I had a friend check it out for me and he found that the top hat is broken. I have some pictures showing what happened to it and some comparing it to the one on other side.

Is this the kind of thing that is easily replaced? What should I do? Do you think I should still drive it while its broke like this? Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Spencer

Some will disagree and take the long trip around, but when they get to the state were they are cracked replaced the struts too. If you don’t replace the struts the new mounts won’t last very long. I would also install some Cravenspeen strut tower STD’s as your strut towers are bulging.

I agree on strut replacement especially if your car has 70k. They don't have to leak to be worn out. Don't go with the real cheap strut bearings or top hat as you call they. I installed the plates from Mini Madness that mounted from underneath the strut tower. They pulled down the mushrooming and reinforced the tower. Worth the $100 investment. I put the Sachs Sport struts on all four corners. Very happy with the outcome. I recommend replacing the rubber stops, shock bumpers, and don't forget to replace your control arm bushings. To check those put a breaker bar on your front lugs and if the tires moves back in the wheel well when you torque on it they're probably shot. My tires would shift back 1/2 " or so, plus a clunking sound over low speed bumps. They're good for about 70k. Do that and you'll have that new car feeling!
