Help please! Strange engine noise (w/video)
Help please! Strange engine noise (w/video)
So I finally got past my timing issue, and I decently passed both a compression and a leak down test.
Now, I'm noticing an odd squealing noise coming from the left side of the engine. At first I thought it may be a bad pulley, but the more I listen the more it sounds internal. Here is a video:
Any thoughts on what this could be? The only thing I can think of right now is if there is low oil pressure, perhaps the bearings are running dry?
Thanks!

Your coil pack is not affixed to the valve cover leaking upper cylinder head pressure. You probably need new valve cover/gaskets and would prob change the PCV valve while your at it.
What usually happens is some novice mechanic replaces the coil pack and tightens the 4 bolts down beyond torque spec's dislodging the pressed in collets the coil pack bolts go into. Even found one time where some dolt had used loc-tite on these bolts when I was replacing his coil pack.
PS: Dump that POS graymarket CP....get an OEM one for now until you do some mods.

Sorry, I should've clarified a bit more about the coil pack. I took it off because I needed to do a leak down test and needed to see the rocker positions so I left it off in the interest of just starting up. Also, I do use the OEM black one but I switched it out during the build as an issue elimination step (not this issue). I'm going back to the black one. I don't think the four open bolt holes would make a difference, but I'll put it back on just in case.
(oh and I did get a complete gasket set and replaced all the gaskets associated with the cover).

Yes, I'm still trying to figure out how it happened. My suspicion is that the inner rotor wasn't aligned properly with the crankshaft when I put the cover back on. The rotor looks like it has two opposite flat spots which should pair up with the flat spots on the crank.
That's just my theory, I'm not sure if the rotor can only line up one way with the crank or if the rotor self-adjusts...but it sure must have been quite a bit of torque to break something this thick!
Oh and the oil pressure light was on, but my initial thoughts was either a bad sensor or a needed reset since the engine was fully apart. I tracked it backwards looking at the filter first than taking the cover back off. I would've never expected the pump to die a violent death such as this.
