Tach stuck on 2000 rpm
Tach stuck on 2000 rpm
Driving this morning and noticed that my rpms seemed higher than normal. When I was stopped I noticed that my tach would not drop below 2000. it stayed at 2000 even after i shut the car off. I'm driving a 2006 Cooper S. Anybody out there with advice on what to do? Thanks
you could try a couple of things...
unplug the battery, then unplug the tach. re-attach both (tach first, then batt). if thats no worky, then you can try an ecu reset; theres instructions somewhere.
if that doesnt work, have the battery tested. if its ok, eh, hard to say at that point....

It does have power. Normally idles at 800 - 1000. When I stopped today and just before i shut it off the tach registered 2000 and the vehicle was at normal (800 - 1000) idling speed. When I shut it off the tach stayed at 2000. Thanks for responding btw
