Body/frame shim identification

I removed the modular front end off my 2002 Mini Cooper S. On the passenger side there is a shim piece that was between the MFE and the frame. On the driver's side there was nothing, the MFE mated directly to the frame. I didn't take a picture of my car, but Pelican Parts has a picture that shows the part on their guide to replacing the radiator and thermostat seen here:

Picture:

Full Guide:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm

The part in question is that silver plate/shim sitting on the front of the frame. Any idea what it's called, what it's for, part number, or where it is in the parts catalog? I can't find anything. Thanks!

Thanks, nice find. These are used on an as-needed basis for alignment, correct? From the description of the part on your site I think these are usually used between the bumper carrier and the crush tube (parts #1 and #7 on the diagram).

Why did my car have one between the MFE (radiator carrier) and the frame? Pelican's picture showed one in the same place as well.

Yep, that's the same locations I am talking about , just different terms, upper crash tube would be same as the frame. #7 is that lower one , but show in the diagram just for reference. . I have seen people with none, like myself , and I have seen then one both side. Its just as needed.

Thanks

Thanks ECS. I'll replace them where they were and not worry about it then, unless I have alignment problems.
