'12 JCW turbo lag

I've had my JCW around 2 months and every opportunity I get I drive with the windows down and the sunroof open. I've grown a costumed to the sounds while driving and noticed today, two things had changed. My turbo didn't seem to be engaging unless I was trying to accelerate quickly. The other change was that I wasn't hearing the 'hiss' while shifting, once again, unless I was trying to accelerate. Is this a sign that my turbo is going out? Other than that, the car drives like the day I bought it. I also keep my oil checked and still have the factory warranty on the car.

New issue arose today. While driving I downshifted to 4th to get around someone and when I let out the clutch the car felt like it choked up a little and it sounded there was a crunchy leaf underneath my hood. Any thoughts on any of this?

I had a similar problem awhile back, from time to time under full throttle my car would choke and stagger for a spit second also hearing a crunching noise coming from the front.

Did you find the reason for the problem?

Yes and no. It happened only a few times and I was pretty scared it was the turbo going out. Hence the post, but it hasn't done it in some time. It could have just been some bad gas or a small clog in the intake but like I said, hasn't happened in a while. I'll get on it tomorrow when I go out and get back with you.
