R53 s eml ?
R53 s eml ?
So I bought this car about 2,000 miles ago I'm at 93k now and it's a 2005. I was just curious how long the "service engine light" and EML light should stay on after you start the car, if at all? Since I bought it when I turn the car on they stay on for a second maybe two and their gone. I don't feel any issues going on with the car as far as stalling, not starting ect. Any info would be great!
I once read that you should turn the key to the ON position and wait (about a five-count) to allow the initial system checks to run (most of the idiot lights will turn off) before turning to the START position and starting the car. I think they called it a "Christmas tree" of lights that you want to wait for before starting.
I usually jump in the car, flip to ON, then buckle up and by then the initial checks are done, then start the car.

Well all the initial light comes on and you explained but only the two EML and SES lights stay on for 2 more seconds after the car is started. So idk if this is normal or kinda like a warning or what...
