Coolant expansion/reservoir split

After a decade, my coolant res. tank finally split at the seam. Tried search without much luck. What's the best r&r - newer OEM or aftermarket?
TIA

Well an aluminum wouldn't spilt, but another oem could last as long as the car will.

the metal ones are very $$$, you can replace with plastic several times for the same cost

but if you like the bling they do look nice.

Just go Canton or RMW & you won't have to look back!

I replaced mine with OEM and after 6 months it was leaking also. Spend the extra money for a better tank, instead of throwing money away.

But you'll never have to replace it again!

Then buy the ones sold by Canton or other brands, which are a true pressure caps. The stock ones on the Mini has a built-in safety, but the system is made to be pressurized. Drilling a hole in the stock cap won't do much except allowing coolant to leak. I have a Forge tank with the stock cap and no problems, go figure.

I've been running the forge since before the "recall" on them, about 2003. No problems at all. Replaced the cap once (stock cap) around 300k miles. I'd say go aluminum.
