Any advice on the type of transmission fluid to use? I've read where some have used Redline MT90. My level is low and I am going to use Mobil 1 synthetic (75W90)...should this be okay? Thanks

You could always just take it to the dealer and have them do it. You have a warrenty, so let them eat the cost. Just a thought.

Yeah, I know. Trouble is that it is such a hassle getting to the dealer. I like being able to work on my car, but not having the facts on fluid type, torque settings etc makes it a lot more difficult. With the lack of a decent service manual, these boards seem to be the best source of information.

yeah, I know what you mean. If no one posts that knows, call your dealer and ask to talk to the MINI service writer. Then ask the service writer to let you speak to a MINI service tech. I have gone that route a few times and it's worked like a charm. Plus, you get to speak to the actual people who would know for sure.

Zappa, thanks for the link. I'd be happy to use your product if I knew it was the correct fluid specified by MINI. I'm almost sure that the Getrag will take a 75W90..would it have been too much to ask that the weight be specified in the owner's manual?
