Yes, not too many cap failures most of the time is the reservoir that has hairline cracks at the base, Which you would be low on coolant and see the drips near between the transmission and core support.

Whenever I perform oil changes I use bungee cords with the hooks of both ends to get the reservoir out of my way and have noticed that hard plastic piece that attaches to the bottom of the base has a couple of drips only when I put strain on it. It's like a dark gray elbow.

Have you had the intake ports/valves cleaned of carbon buildup, that can also lead to the engine running less than optimum.

I had the intake system walnut blasted by the dealer in October of last year, cost me $800 but made me some extra HP and TQ (5-10hp), I'm sure of it! The price has come down since it seems that it's going to be consider a normal maintenance procedure every 30K-50K on the N14's. You know maybe I need to go for a canyon run and run the engine harder than I normally do, that might remove more carbon with more heat, great idea! Most of the clean-up of carbon using BG 44K has been stop and go traffic, I bet I should see more cleanup on sustained trips.
