R53 A/C compressor bearing noise. Need help.

Hi, I got a 2003 MINI cooper s and the bearing on the AC compressor got some water inside it and it's making alot of noise(both On or OFF noise doesn't change). To make sure I took the belt of and spun the pulley by hand and it was rattling. Basically just sounds like a dry bearing. I was wondering if replacing the clutch coil would fix this or do I have to get a whole new unit?

Thanks in advance

There is a bearing in that pulley. If it's rattling when you spin by hand (it should spin freely), I'd say replace the clutch coil.

Just make sure you get the part that includes the pulley. You can get the coil alone on eBay, but it doesn't include the bearing you need.

I used Delphi part #01650060.

Here's my write-up on it:

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it anywhere online. Looks like I have to get a whole new unit. :(

Wish I still had my old one which still had a good bearing on it - I'd ship it to you.

Looked at some of my old pictures from when I did the repair - the part number is actually 0165006/0, which turns back a number of results in the UK. Looks like amazon.co.uk will ship to the US. Here's the link:
Delphi 0165006/0 Air Conditioning Compressor: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike Delphi 0165006/0 Air Conditioning Compressor: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

More than I paid for the part, but still way cheaper than a new compressor, evacuating and refilling the system, etc.

You could also find a used compressor, or even non-functioning one from a junkyard and use the piece with the bearing. Or, see if you could remove the bad bearing and press a new one in. Maybe more work than it's worth, but at least an option. The bearing is in the middle of this piece:
