Hey guys,

So my CEL came up with the code 2B53. According to my local shop it has something to do with the throttle body and that it will have to be replaced.

The thing is, my CEL has been on for a whilenow, and every time i take it to the shop, they find AN issue like UNMETERED AIR, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, "fix it", but the CEL keeps coming back.

So what they have done to the car so far...
-Car scanned and came back with HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP and UNMETERED AIR
-Fixed a Vacuum leak, CEL came back on 20min later for UNMETERED AIR
-Walnut blasted the valves to clean up buildup, CEL came back on 20min later
-Now the car is throwing code 2B53

Any ideas?

Sounds like they are not really fixing things. Is this a dealer or independent? Also are they giving you better/more details than you are giving us? I like to know exactly what is wrong (with reason) not just a guess.

FYI, MINI extended the warrenty for the HPFP to something like 10 year/120,000 miles. If you paid for it you might be able to get reimbursed.
