I'm in need of assistance please. I've had my mini 09 clubman s for a little over a year and about 2 months ago I started getting the half engine symbol after hard acceleration and quickly letting off the gas at about 40 mph. Then I lose power and the light comes on. It finally gave a code after I had to replace the battery over the weekend. The code is p1338 which is the camshaft sensor. Well I just replaced the sensor and it didn't help... does anyone else know what would cause just that one code?

 

engine timing off or problem with vanos would cause this.

 

That's what I was afraid of. This morning it did start throwing another code p1497. I will look up more on the vanos. Thanks for the reply!

I have read other places that it is probably the turbo diverter valve. But i haven't had the opportunity to get another one yet. Google "mini cooper diverter valve diagnosis" that is where I found some info. It is a rubber type diaphragm that can get a tear. symptoms half engine after letting off the gas at around 3700 rpm. does that sound like your issue?
