2009 Mini Cooper s transmission problems

When accelerating to pass another car in 5th gear I hear a metallic ticking and it stops when I stop accelerating. What if anything can I do and is it my transmission? Also I hear that there is no way to check or fill my transmission fluid, could I be low on fluid and not know it? I just need some info on this matter any will help thanks.

Are you certain it's coming from the transmission? When did you first notice it? Could be your drive shafts that come out of the transmission, can you get it on video?

What rpm are you accelerating from? Does it happen in any other gear?

There is nothing black magic about draining and filling the manual trans. Remove fill plug BEFORE you remove the drain plug. Drain the fluid. Add new fluid through the fill plug until it starts to run out the fill plug. Make sure you fill the trans with the car level.

However, I'd put my money more towards axles. The transmissions in the R56s don't really seem to have issues. Are you lowered at all?

no I am not certain it's my transmission and I first noticed it when acceleration to pass someone going about 45 mph so I got up to about 55-60 mph I didn't look at the rpms though and I could try to get it on video but it might be hard to hear on the video

I don't see a drain or fill plug at all I looked in the manual and have tried to find something online but nothing, accept that the transmission is a permanently sealed system that is a "lifetime transmission" that never needs refilled or changed. I also heard someone is taking mini to court over that matter too. But if you could show me with some pictures these fill and drain plugs then I will try it I would appreciate it. And no I'm not lowered at all

I've only had this happen in 5th gear and I'm not sure what rpm I was at but I will test that out again today

The drain/fill plugs are not hard to find at all. Did you look under the car? The transmission needs it's fluid changed just like every other transmission ever made.

The best I could find on short notice. This is an R53 but it used the same transmission... https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ion-fluid.html

Are you running high test fuel. Sounds like spark knock to me.
