The trim strip that runs above my windshield is loose. If I pull on it, I could probably pull the whole thing off...and if I don't get it resecured, it'll probably get pulled off by the wind.

Does anyone know of any reason why I shouldn't just go crazy glue (or perhaps a silicon sealant if I have any around) the thing back in place? So far, there's no water leakage or anything...the glass itself is sealed fine. The trim's just loose.

Looking for opinions in the next 2 hours...cause otherwise it's getting glued before I hit the highway a little later today.

happened to me right after one of my installs(#4 of 6) Gary at MoP replaced while I waited. You don't really want to get water trapped in back of that.My advise is to remove it long enough to get back to the dealer and get a NEW one installed.MOP

Mine came loose as well. However, my dealer had a window specialist arrive at the dealer to take out the windshield and apply an adhesive. As for it coming off on the highway, I think it is unlikely. Drove with mine loose for about a week without any problems, but the annoying whistle for the wind. I tested it at speed, no harm - lets leave it at that.

Mine partially came off at around 80 miles/hour went to dealer, they said it was warped and replaced it, after I got home it started to come off again (dealer is 100 miles away), he said they cannot put glue in and the windshield must be reset in place.

Looks like someone does not know what they are doing. I may take it to a local windshield shop. ANy suggestions in the meantime would be appreciated

I went to Patrick Mini in Schaumberg Illinois

I have had mine come off four times now (02 MCS). It is back at the dealer again now. Each time it has come off while driving. I've learnt to react to the noise developed when it works loose now and pull over an pull it off before if flys off!
The dealer says he is having a windshield expert look at it this time . . . we'll see.

Well this is the 3rd time (04 cooper), I think it might have been fixed (by the dealer), the trim does look different than the original! Originally they told me they had to replce the windshield but they did the trim again. (I was up at the dealer replacing my CVT transmission and the did this at the same time).

Let us know what they do to repair it! It really sucks when it flies off!
