Please help! Issue with 2002 MCS just bought today

Hello everyone,

Brand new to mini's as of today. Just bought a 2002 Mini Cooper S with the 6 speed. 61,000 miles

The problem is the driver side brake light is out. The bulbs, circuit board and sockets are all in great shape. I tested for 12v at the #4 wire on the tail light connector and no power when the brake pedal is pushed.

All the other lights work as they should. Could this be a bcm issue?

Thanks!

Just the driver side brake light? That cancels the fuse as suspect. Try checking the wires leading to that tail. BC1 issues can be puzzling. Would be crazy to spend for a new BC1 just for that. Try unhooking the batt & if that doesn't work, the dealership might be able to check/reset it.

Yes only the driver side brake light. Running lights and turn signals work fine. It is very strange.

It can't be the fuse or the brake light switch. The wires and everything leading up to the bulb all look brand new with no corrosion.

I was hoping to not involve the dealership but I guess I might have to.
