Oil leak, what is this?
Hey guys. New member here and new a mini owner as well, so please forgive me haha.. I've noticed I have an oil leak coming from this area and I believe I've narrowed it down to this point. I'm not sure what this is a cover for but the 4th bolt ( on bottom not shown) looks to have a spacer and what seems to be a bolt hole going into the block. The bolt holding this cover on is not long enough and I believe should be plugging this hole. Can anyone tell me if this is correct or if I'm missing something that should be plugging this hole. Currently waiting on a service manual just hoping someone can give me some insight since I have no idea what this cover is for and what should be behind it

you need to learn how to include pictures in you post - and just copying the picture into your post ain't it . . .
Your picture needs to live on a 'server' where it is available 24/7 ... the gallery here on NAM is an option, but I quit using it years ago because it did not work well, and I put picture on other (non-MINI) sites too. I use a free PHOTOBUCKET account and it works well for me, but there are many others and people have different opinions.
The process is to upload your picture to a 'picture server site' and once it is there you can get the URL - or address of the picture.
With this address you can insert code in your message that comprises a "tag" the address and a "closing tag" and MAGIC the picture appears. On PHOTOBUCKET you just ask for the "image link" and paste that into your msg . . .
