I have an 03 Cooper with 32,000 on the clock and just noticed I have a clicking noise when I downshift to decelerate. It is most noticeable going to 2nd from 3rd and not as loud when going 2-3 or 2-1. The frequency changes with the cars speed not the RPMs. To top it off, I heard the noise with the clutch in and decelerating. I have an appointment on the 26th, but wanted to get ideas before then. Thanks.

Chris:

What was the diagnosis of your problem? I ask because I just noticed a similar problem with my MCS. Clicking when downshifting, related to car speed. At first I thought I had a rusty patch on a brake rotor (the car had been sitting for 3 days) but it's persisted.

Is this the same problem as the other thread that was started a few months ago? There was no answer at the end of it, but there might be soon.
