broken exhaust hanger r53

2005 MCSa
mid-chassis, just under the support plate...both ends broken/rusted at pipe connection...is there a replacement bracket for this or is a new exhaust needed?...was making clanking noises on some bumps and that prompted the undercarriage investigation...I zip-tied them away from the pipe for now...any suggestions appreciated ---John

For a well equipped shop, it should be easy to fabricate and weld a new bracket. New exhaust systems are pretty pricey and this seems like a simple fix for someone with the right tools and knowhow.

It's not so much a bracket as it is two outreaching pices of 4 inch round stock welded to the pipe.

But if it's just the quirky looking rubber mounts that failed you can replace those.

A decent exhaust shop should be able to bend a piece of rod to wrap below the pipe and stick out both sides into the hanger rubber pieces, and tack it to the pipe in a couple of spots. Maybe grind down the stubs of the originals while they're at it.

Without replacing the stock exhaust the mounts in the middle above #8 in the diagram are welded in place.

I was think you might be able to tack back if its not rusted that bad or fab up a new rod using some of the hardware from the rear. Since they have a similar design. #17 and 18.

Clean the coating , bend them straight, cut and tack them on.

That might work.

Thanks
